Brief History of Central Railway School & Jr. College Kalyan

Central Railway School Kalyan was established as a primary school in the year 1918 by the G.I.P. Railways has celebrated its Centenary in a grand manner in 2018. The School has been upgraded in a phased manner and the first batch of students went to S.S.C. Board of Maharashtra State in 1975. The first batch of H.S.C. Board appeared in 1985 with Commerce Stream. The Science Stream was introduced in year 2005. This Senior Secondary School caters to the educational needs of wards of railway men from K- 12 has strength of 1900 students and is affiliated to CBSE New Delhi. The school has a proven track record of excellence in curricular and co-curricular achievements.

A pioneer in Computer Education the school has reached the zenith of glory in year 2005 when it bagged both State and National First Prizes for excellence in Computer Literacy from honourable President of India with medals and cash award of Nine Lakh Rupees. This trailblazing achievement is a role model for all schools in Indian Railways since this is recommended by Railway Board for implementation in other schools of Indian Railways.

The School has been the Best School in Central Railway, many students and teachers of this school have been awarded Best Student and Best Teachers in Indian Railways in the past for their achievements in the field of education. School Swachh Vidyalaya campaign has bagged a grade of BLUE from CBSE New Delhi with cash prize of Rs. 75000/- and culminated in making the school a better place to learn with a clean and green environment. Times of India, LIC and Central Railway jointly awarded the title of Lockdown Hero to school team for the service to community.
